The information age is upon us. Information and communication technologies (ICT) have revolutionized the ways in which people, organizations, and corporations communicate, collaborate, and create wealth. In much of the developed world, Web 1.0 has given way to Web 2.0. In developing countries, cell phone technologies are opening new frontiers and leapfrogging over issues of connectivity and access. ICT is credited with creating a borderless world, accelerating globalization, fostering extraordinary communities, producing people-powered movements, and generating innovative sources of commerce.

appropriate it (AI)’s mission is to help organizations harness the power and promise of this information age to advance the agendas of social justice, equitable access, and inclusive international development.

AI is a hybrid organization that provides different but related services through two program areas:

1. Consulting Lab: Information & communication technology (ICT) advise, support, and services to non governmental organizations, non profit organizations, and other service providers in this sector.
2. Innovation Lab: Applied research and incubator services to pilot innovative solutions, explore emerging technologies, and establish collaborative ventures.
